French language settings for iOS

1. Check that there is French (France), French (Switzerland), French (Canada) or French (Belgium) keyboard in Settings / General / Keyboard / Keyboards.

2. Confirm that Automatic or French for the French (France) keyboard or French (Belgium) keyboard, and French for French (Switzerland) keyboard or French (Canada) keyboard is selected in Settings / General / Keyboard / Hardware Keyboard.

3. The French language code is 5 5, where the mnemonic is F R with the Rivo alphabet layout.

4. The language at L3 can be any Roman alphabet language. The initial factory setting is English.

5. The language at L4 can be any language. The initial factory setting is none.

6. The French language can be set at either L3 or L4.

7. To set the French language at L3, press L3 + L1, 6, 5, 5.

8. To set the French language at L4, press L3 + L1, L4, 6, 5, 5.

9. To unset the language at L4, press L3 + L1, L4, R1.

10. Roman alphabet letters and common keyboard symbols are as in Rivo alphabet layout and Rivo symbols.

11. Letters with diacritic accent marks in French can be typed as follows:

éR2 + 1
ë, ï, ü, ÿR2 + 2, after typing the base letter (e, i, u, y)
â, ê, î, ô, ûR2 + 5, after typing the base letter (a, e, i, o, u)
à, è, ùR2 + 8, after typing the base letter (a, e, u)
çR2 + 7
œR2 + 3
æR2 + 4

12. Additional symbols can be typed in the symbol mode as follows:
