German language settings for iOS

1. Make sure that there is a German keyboard such as German (Germany), German (Austria) or German (Switzerland) is in Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards.

2. Additionally, make sure that Automatic or German for German (Germany) keyboard or German (Austria) keyboard, and German for German (Switzerland) keyboard is selected in Settings > General > Keyboard > Hardware Keyboard.

3. The German language code is DE, represented by the numeric 4, 1.

4. The language at L3 can be any Roman alphabet language. The initial factory setting is English.

5. The language at L4 can be any language. The initial factory setting is none.

6. The German language can be set at either L3 or L4.

7. To set the German language at L3, press L3 + L1, 6, 4, 1.

8. To set the German language at L4, press L3 + L1, L4, 6, 4, 1.

9. To unset the language at L4, press L3 + L1, L4, R1.

10. Roman alphabet letters and common keyboard symbols are as in Rivo alphabet layout and Rivo symbols layout.

11. Letters with diacritic accent marks in German can be typed as follows:

öR2 + 3
üR2 + 2
ßR2 + 7

12. Additional symbols can be typed in symbol mode as follows:
