A3.1 Press and hold the POWER button until Rivo vibrates to turn it on or off. There is one long vibration when turning on and two long vibrations when turning off.
A3.2 Rivo charges using a USB-C cable, with a full charge taking approximately 1.5 hours.
A3.3 When a USB-C cable is connected for charging, a red LED turns on with a single vibration, and upon full charge, it changes to green with another vibration. If the charging cable is connected and battery feedback sound is set to off, pressing and holding S1 will provide a full-charge feedback with one long vibration followed by one short vibration.
A3.4 To check the battery level, press and hold the S1 button. The battery level is indicated by vibrations, with five vibrations when fully charged down to one vibration when the battery is low.
B1.1 When powered on for the first time, Rivo starts in Home mode, providing access to Rivo's built-in features and settings menu. The state in which a connected device is operated via Bluetooth is Remote mode, which includes Keyboard mode, Audio mode, and Call mode.
B1.2 To move to the previous or next menu in Home mode, press 4 or 6, then press 5 to select.
B1.3 To go to the first or last menu, press 1 or 7.

B1.8 To open Rivo's user folder, connect Rivo to a computer using a USB cable and press POWER + 0; the folder will open with a vibration. The user storage is about 20 GB, where files can be copied or moved to specific folders: mp3 audiobook files go in the Audio Books folder, mp3 music files in the Music folder, call recordings in the Call Records folder, and voice recordings in the Voice Memos folder. While the user folder is open, Rivo buttons are disabled until the USB cable is disconnected. Note that there are limits to the maximum number of files in a folder, which is currently set to 300.
B1.9 The files in the Call Records and Voice Memos folders contain recordings of call records and voice memos, respectively. These recordings are intended solely for personal notes, particularly to support visually impaired users who may find it challenging to take notes. Before recording any conversation, please be sure to request and obtain clear consent from all participants and follow any local laws or regulations regarding the use of recordings beyond personal notes.
B2.1 Press the TIME button to hear the current time.
B2.2 Press and hold the TIME button to feel the time through vibrations: long vibrations for tens and short vibrations for single units. For example, 12:34 is represented by one long vibration, two short vibrations, three long vibrations, and four short vibrations.
B2.3 Press and hold S2 to check only the current minute through vibrations.
B2.4 To stop the time announcement, press the POWER button briefly.
B2.5 The TIME button functions even when Rivo's buttons are locked.

B9.18 When Quick Braille is on, you can input braille efficiently. For example, to type the letters "f" and "g," hold down L1 and press and release 2 and 3 in succession. When paired with an iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch, the device type is automatically set; otherwise, Android TalkBack is set by default. Ensure the correct device type is set manually if needed.
B10.8 To pair Rivo with a device, go to Settings > Manage Connection. Select Pairing mode and press 5. There are three vibrations and a voice prompt saying, "selected, pairing mode." Rivo will remain in pairing mode for 5 minutes. Then open your device's Bluetooth settings, select Rivo3S, and double-tap the screen to pair and connect.
B10.9 To toggle Rivo's voice feedback, go to Settings > Configuration. Select Voice Feedback and press 5 to switch the setting on or off. Voice feedback is enabled by default. When voice feedback is on, feedback is provided primarily via voice rather than vibration; when off, vibration is primarily used rather than voice.
B10.10 To initialize Rivo data, go to Settings > Configuration > Initialize. Choose between Reset, which only clears device pairing information, or Factory Reset, which deletes all settings and data.

C5.7 To switch between the Rivo microphone and the earphone microphone, press L3. A single vibration indicates the Rivo microphone is selected, while two vibrations indicate the earphone microphone is selected.
C5.8 To toggle the speakerphone on or off, press R2. A single vibration indicates the speakerphone is on, while two vibrations indicate it is off.
C5.9 To switch the audio between Rivo and the smartphone during a call, press R3. A single vibration indicates the audio is set to Rivo, while two vibrations indicate it is set to the smartphone. Additionally, when a call comes in, press R3 to answer the call and switch the audio at the same time, to dial touch tones using Rivo while talking on the smartphone or a Bluetooth earphone.
C5.10 To start recording during a call, press and hold L4 until there is a vibration. Additionally, when a call comes in, press and hold L4 in Phone mode or Home mode to answer the call and start recording simultaneously. In Audio mode, press and hold * + L4 to start recording. Note that it doesn't work in Keyboard mode.
C5.11 To pause or resume call recording, press L4 briefly.
C5.12 To stop call recording, press R4. The recorded content is saved sequentially in the Home > Recording > Call Recording.

C6.1 Up to two languages can be set in Rivo at a time: one mandatory language assigned to L3 and one optional language assigned to L4.
C6.2 On an iPhone, ensure that the desired keyboards are added in Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards. Also, make sure the correct hardware keyboard type is selected for each keyboard in Settings > General > Keyboard > Hardware Keyboard.
C6.3 The mandatory language at L3 can be any Roman alphabet language supported by Rivo, with the initial factory setting set to English.
C6.4 To set a language at L3, press L3 + L1, 6, followed by the language code. For example, the language code for English is 1 9, so to set English at L3, press L3 + L1, 6, 1, 9.
C6.5 To switch Rivo to L3 language typing mode, press L3.
C6.6 The optional language at L4 can be any language supported by Rivo, with the initial factory setting set to none.
C6.7 To set a language at L4, press L3 + L1, L4, 6, followed by the language code.
C6.8 To unset the language at L4, press L3 + L1, L4, R1.
C6.9 To switch Rivo to L4 language typing mode, press L4. If no language is set at L4, pressing L4 sets Rivo to numeric input mode. If a language is set at L4, press L4 + R4 to switch to numeric input mode.
C6.10 This manual provides general information about typing letters, primarily focusing on common English.

C6.12 Currently, Rivo supports the following languages on Apple devices: Arabic, Belgian, British, Bulgarian, Catalan, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, Flemish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Icelandic, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Swedish, Swiss, Turkish, and Ukrainian.
C6.13 On Android, Rivo currently supports English, Japanese, and Korean.
C7.1 If your phone has multiple languages or keyboards set up, ensure that the phone's current input language matches Rivo's current input language when entering text.
C7.2 To type text, press L3 or L4 depending on what you want to input. Basically, Rivo attempts to change the language or keyboard on the phone as needed. However, if the letters entered on the phone are not as expected, press L3 or L4 again to synchronize the phone's input language with Rivo's. For example, if L3 is set to English and L4 to another language, and pressing L3 to type in English results in a different language being entered on the phone, press L3 repeatedly until the phone's language changes to English. Similarly, if pressing L4 to type in the set language results in a different language being entered on the phone, press L4 repeatedly until the phone's language changes to the correct one.
C7.3 The default behavior of switching languages by pressing L3 or L4 repeatedly can be disabled. To change the language switching setting, press and hold L3 + L4. One vibration indicates that language switching is enabled, while two vibrations indicate it is disabled.
C7.4 When language switching is disabled, the language or keyboard on the phone is not changed when L3 or L4 is pressed more than once.
C7.5 If needed, you can manually switch the language or keyboard on the phone by pressing L3 + L4, regardless of whether the language switching setting is enabled or disabled.
C8.1 Letters in each language are assigned to numeric buttons as described in the corresponding language section of the "Typing with Rivo" document.
C8.2 To type letters with diacritic accent marks, press the combination R2 + x while Rivo is in language typing mode, as explained in the respective language section of the "Typing with Rivo" document.
C8.3 Languages that use the Roman alphabet can be typed using either the Rivo Alphabet Layout or the ABC Alphabet Layout, as described in the respective sections.
C8.4 The Rivo alphabet layout is recommended for efficiency when typing letters, consistency in typing letters with diacritics and command mnemonics.
C8.5 To enter text on an iPhone, select the text field you want to input into and press 5 to activate it. Note that Quick Nav is temporarily turned off, but it will automatically turn back on once VoiceOver focus moves away from the text field. Alternatively, instead of activating the text field, you can manually turn off Quick Nav by pressing R1 + 1. In this case, after entering text, you need to press R1 + 1 again to turn Quick Nav back on. This alternative method can be useful when the current text field is not activated, or when you need to move the VoiceOver cursor to read the screen while typing in a text field.
C8.6 To type a letter on a button with multiple assigned letters, press the button repeatedly until the desired letter is entered.
C8.7 To type another letter assigned to the same button after entering one, press L2 or R2. For example, to type www, press 1, 1, R2, R2, 1, 1.
C8.8 Press L1 to type a tab or jump to the next text field.
C8.9 Press R4 + L1, L1 to jump to the previous text field by typing a backtab.
C8.10 Press R1 to delete a letter backward (bakcspace).
C8.11 Press R4 + R1 to delete a letter forward (delete).
C8.12 Press R3 to type an enter, and press R4 + R3 to type an enter with the option modifier. Depending on the app, one of these may start a new line, while the other triggers an action, such as sending a message.

C8.14 To switch Rivo to numeric mode, press L4 when no language is assigned to L4, and press L4 + R4 when a language is assigned to L4.

Alternatively, numbers can be entered using numeric shortcuts in any mode without switching to numeric mode by holding down L4 and pressing the numeric buttons. These numeric shortcuts are convenient when typing small numbers mixed with letters or when entering a passcode while in Navigation mode.
C8.16 A backspace or an enter can be entered by pressing L4 + R1 or R3.
C8.17 The symbols * and # can also be entered by pressing L4 + * or #.
C8.18 To type capital letters, set Rivo to sentence mode or caps lock mode. In sentence mode, only the first letter of the sentence is capitalized. In caps lock mode, all subsequent letters are capitalized. Uppercase versions of letters with diacritics can also be entered in these modes.
C8.19 To set the lowercase mode for the language assigned to L3, press L3.
C8.20 To set the sentence mode for the language assigned to L3, press R1 + L3.

C8.31 Symbols assigned to * can be entered by pressing * and then L2 or R2.
C8.32 If you do not want to type a symbol after pressing *, press R1 to cancel symbol mode and return to the previous text mode.
C8.33 To type a letter in the same button right after typing a symbol in a button, press L2 or R2. For example, to type @i, press *, 6, L2.

D1.1 Go to Settings > Accessibility > VoiceOver to turn on VoiceOver and adjust various options.
